Leaving a Legacy
Last year, legacy donations to Bristol Cancer Help Centre enabled us to double the number of calls answered on our national telephone helpline, and to offer more access funds to those wishing to come on a residential course at the Centre.
There are a number of ways in which you can help those who come to the Bristol Cancer Help Centre in the future:
The importance of making a Will
Anyone aged 18 or over can make a Will, and it is one of the most important things you can do. It is a simple and inexpensive way of ensuring that your money and possessions go to the people you want them to. Without a Will, the law will decide how your Estate is to be distributed.
The Bristol Cancer Help Centre free guide
The Centre has compiled a fee guide to help you make or change your Will. It is packed with useful information about planning your Will, valuing your Estate and preparing to see your solicitor.
And of course, we do point out that any gifts to charity are deducted from your Estate before Inheritance Tax is calculated!
And we outline the different ways such gifts can be made.
From the charity's point of view, legacies are an investment in the future, a crucial way of ensuring that the Bristol Cancer Help Centre will be able to continue to deliver the long-term support we provide to people with cancer and those close to them.
